SOSmissing.com (including SOSmissing People, SOSmissing Pets and SOSmissing Properties) is a platform where people can report missing persons, pets and properties and upload information about found or reported sightings of missing persons, pets or properties. SOSmissing is not involved in the actual search operation and content of the reports and upload activities of others. Therefore SOSmissing is not able to exercise any control of the quality, security, legal statue of the reported persons, pets and properties, the correctness of the texts and the competence of the users. Our services are only accessible to those who can close legally binding agreements to Dutch law. Our services are not accessible to minors.

SOSmissing attempts to bring information seekers, missing people and finders together. However, SOSmissing will never participate in an agreement closed between both parties. If you have a dispute with one or more users, you ought to resolve this yourself. SOSmissing (and its entire staff, including managers and agents) are secured from any charges, claims or damages and such, concerning disputes of that kind.

Entries and reports will automatically be removed after six months and will be stored in a historical database. Offending language, such as blasphemy and inciting texts, will not be tolerated and will be removed without notification.

References to websites or services of third parties

SOSmissing.com may contain references to internet sites of third parties, for example through hyperlinks and/or banners. These references can also be placed in or next to your report. SOSmissing does not control nor has any influence on the content and the policies of these internet sites. If you choose to visit these websites, you will fall under the privacy rules of the concerning site.

Use of the (content of) SOSmissing.com

We promote the SOSmissing internet site and its content, which may contain your material. SOSmissing can provide access to your material by third parties and enable them to promote your entry on their internet sites, software applications, e-mail and other channels. Our promotions and the promotions of third parties may contain (parts of) your entry. SOSmissing can also modify your material technically so that it is accessible to use for mobile equipment or software applications of third parties.

It is not permitted to use the content of SOSmissing.com for other purposes than previously described. This also includes forwarding the content of the sites to third parties and/or to multiply the content, without written authorisation from SOSmissing. Without authorisation, it is also not permitted to use a substantial part of the content of the database and reuse it, in the sense of the Database Law.

Without written authorisation of SOSmissing, it is not permitted to place hyperlinks to SOSmissing.com on your website. RSS feeds for personal use and/or news articles (for example for use in personal web blogs of personal online media) are permitted, provided that it is used in accordance with our code of conduct.

Use conditions and policy

SOSmissing.com has the right to exclude anyone from further use of the website, if this person does not act accordingly with the conditions and/or policy of SOSmissing. SOSmissing has all rights to take measures against anyone who does not act accordingly with the conditions and policy rules. Therefore SOSmissing will be able to undertake one or more of the following actions with or without previous warning:

  • removal of the entry
  • suspension of the account
  • provide third parties such as the police force, justice and claimants with personal data

Offences against our policy are for example:

  • false reports of missing persons, pets and properties
  • false reports concerning sightings or found persons, animals and properties
  • offending language, blasphemy, inciting texts
  • texts witch do not to apply to the purpose of SOSmissing
  • suspicious reports
  • spam

Binding advice

All disputes and/or lawful claims which result from or relate to the service offered by SOSmissing (excluding the steps undertaken by SOSmissing itself) and/or to receive an indemnity or charges concerning unlawful use of the website of SOSmissing, breach of intellectual property rights of the users conditions, will be settled by the Foundation of Disputes Committee Consumer Matters (Stichting Geschillencommissie Consumentenzaken) in The Hague. If you or SOSmissing establish a claim contrary to this regulation, the other party can claim non-judicial and judicial costs to a maximum of € 5.000,-
